💭 Modern Translation:
Some favors come with a hidden invoice. Most of us know the feeling: you help a friend rewrite their résumé, then wait for a glowing thank-you or proof they used every suggestion. Seneca says the good deed itself is your payment, even if nobody makes a fuss about it.
⚡️ Your Move:
Before your next favor today, ask: "Would I still do this if they never thanked me?" If you offer, leave out the reminder of how much trouble it took.
