You signed up for Simply Stoicism, got a few issues, and then... nothing. No goodbye email. Just silence.

So, what happened? Simply put, life did. I moved across the country to Seattle. I left the company I'd been at for eight years and started a new job. And my wife went through real loss and grief for the first time in her life.

None of that was on the schedule. But the Stoics built everything on one distinction: what you control, and what you don't. I chose to focus on what mattered most at the time, showing up for my wife through her loss and grief, being her rock and support system. Easiest decision I ever made.

So, while the newsletter stopped, the practice never did.

I leaned on the practice harder than ever. It carried me through the move, the new job, and the hard season at home.

But a practice you don't share is only half a practice. So I'm back.

What's returning:

  • The deep-dive: every Tuesday. One idea, one practice, one story.

  • The Morning Minute: Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Under 150 words, gone before your coffee cools.

Tuesday's issue is already written. It's about what the Stoics actually said about grief, and why they thought mourning and gratitude run on the same track.

If you're out, the unsubscribe link is right down there. No hard feelings. Marcus had whole chapters on letting go.

Talk Tuesday,

Jon
